I Should Be Happy About the Pokemon TCG Pocket Update, But I’m Not

While many are focused on the upcoming release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A and the Generation 10 leaks, the news regarding ККИ Покемон Карман should not be overlooked. A recent announcement regarding the mobile game shared that big changes are coming to its trading feature, one that fans should be excited about.

Aside from allowing players to gift cards, which is already huge news in itself, an upcoming update is meant to allow everyone to trade cards of rarities they weren’t previously able to. This means that 2-star, shiny-1, and shiny-2 values can now be exchanged, and many are happy with that information.

As great as it is that I can trade something like my shiny Pokemon for that of another, the update has still left me heavily disappointed. You may ask why, especially since the game is providing what players have been asking for quite some time, and the reason is that it would have been perfect if it included two additional things.

The updated list of rarities that can be traded is great, but it doesn’t include those that belong to the 3-star and crown categories. Cards that belong to them are arguably the most valuable, and they’re especially hard to obtain given the incredibly low acquisition odds the devs placed on them.

Given that not many people have such cards, you’d think they would have also become tradable, as it seems that the primary focus of the update is to help everyone improve their collection. However, that isn’t the case, and I, as well as many other fans of Pokemon Карман TCG, were likely left with a huge feeling of dissatisfaction over the decision.

Again, it cannot be stressed enough how difficult cards with 3-star or crown rarity are to obtain, as one can open numerous 10 packs and still have no shot at getting even one. I have more than a single account, and even then, I only have an Immersive Pikachu and a Hyper Rare golden Mewtwo after playing for quite some time.

It can be disheartening knowing that there’s a good chance I’ll never get another one, so much so that it could end up with me no longer playing. I’m sure others have likely felt the same way, which is why it would have been best if the game provided a guaranteed way of getting those cards rather than relying on chance.

Making them tradable would have given every player even more incentive to continue enjoying ККИ Покемон Карман, which is good for the game’s lifespan. It may have even been able to attract new fans and help it stay relevant for longer, as they’d likely be lured in by the thought of obtaining such amazing cards with almost no risks.

While I’m not saying that the upcoming change to Pokemon Карман TCG is bad, as what it intends to do is still great, I’m just disappointed over the idea of what could have been. This was the game’s chance to give its fans everything they’ve wanted since the trade feature was announced, but unfortunately, it didn’t take that last step.
